Overview

The European Leveraged Finance Association is a trade body acting as the voice of the investor community. Their mission is to seek a more transparent, efficient and resilient leveraged finance market, primarily through bringing members together to collaborate on new ideas.

The ELFA team approached us to create a new members platform using our digital product design process, that would support collaboration within their committees, and reduce the complexity of membership management for admins.

Approach

To kick things off we worked together on a discovery phase to identify the areas where a new digital platform could make things more efficient. Our focus was on common processes carried out by committees including managing initiatives, organising meetings, documenting actions, and creating reports.

We carried out user research as part of this digital product design process, interviewing committee participants at different levels, from new members wanting to make an impact, to committee chairs responsible for organising meetings and initiatives. Our finding was that the main blocker to increased collaboration wasn't communication but lack of visibility of what needed doing, and what other members were working on.

We designed and built a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that would address the core problem, as well as get the underlying member data over to a new system. The new platform has streamlined membership management, ensuring that admins only need to enter information once and that member profiles are automatically populated with committee updates.

Solution

The new platform has proven popular with members, with committee participants more aware of what other committee members are working on, resulting in increased collaboration.

Since then we've continued to develop the platform with the ELFA team, recently launching a new version of the platform. This adds new ways for members and chairs to discuss initiatives, arrange meetings, and assign tasks. It also includes partner firms in the platform for the first time, increasing the value of membership by providing access to industry experts.

We continue to collaborate with ELFA to further improve the membership experience using our digital product design and build process.
